鮑勃·迪倫的現場錄音專輯爲數衆多，但1974年的《Before the Flood》因爲他身後的樂隊The Band的在場而倍加值得一提。在此之前迪倫剛與The Band一同錄制了稱霸排行榜的專輯《Planet Waves》，随後他邀請樂隊爲即将進行的巡回演出擔任伴奏，而這次巡演在當時成了有史以來最成功的搖滾巡演。這套雙CD專輯便是這場合作的實況錄音，演出曲目一概都是較早前的經典，《Planet Waves》的作品則一首未唱。雖然專輯呈現了幾首有力的合作歌曲，但諷刺的是，最精彩的幾筆卻要麽是迪倫的自彈自唱，如“Don’t Think Twice”及“It’s Alright Ma”等；要麽是樂隊撇開迪倫的單獨表演，從”The Shape I’m In”中便可見一斑。
